Barista (Mobile application)

Summary

Barista Coffee Company pioneered India’s coffee culture—but why hasn’t it embraced modern technology? This project envisions a concept app for Barista, enhancing scalability and delivering exceptional customer experiences right at their fingertips. Beyond just coffee, it aims to redefine food delivery and dining experiences, adding unique value for users. The case study dives deep into the app’s design, showcasing how diverse UX methods were employed to elevate the overall user journey and experience.

What challenges do customers encounter when visiting cafes or navigating food apps?

India’s food delivery market is booming, with a surge in food app usage. Yet, with countless restaurants and endless choices, users often spend excessive time on third-party apps comparing prices—only to face uncertainty about taste and dissatisfaction when delivered food fails to satisfy their cravings or match the irresistible vibe of enjoying quality dining moments.

An all in one cafe experience and food delivery application

The main objective here was to make the application intuitive for teenage and the adult users and create a USP for positioning the application in the huge food delivery market.

  • Barista had a very clear target audience, a target that needs an extremely easy and fast to use solution with great food experience.

  • The app look should be professional while also having a touch of fun and aesthetics which would distance itself from the normal food delivery app usage. Reliability was another key point.

  • Real images of food and reviews od costumers are a must.

  • Lots of fun sections for the food lovers to win offers and discounts for their next orders and discuss their food interests.

We followed an interactive process bringing the needs of the users at the forefront.

Time to Define Who We’re Designing For

We created two personas representing a broad user base, including professional corporate workers and students. Through the persona and journey mapping, we explored user details like goals, pain points, frustrations, influences, needs, expectations, and motivations. Additionally, we outlined basic user profiles for deeper insights.

After identifying the competitors, we conducted a heuristic evaluation of the competitors’ end-to-end user experience keeping in mind our product’s goals.

Through this study our goal was to

  • Recognise how to enhance our market strategy

  • Understand competitor’s strengths and weaknesses

  • Get a competitive advantage over others in the sector

  • Find gaps in the user experience

Reflecting on What We Learned

Our journey has been wholesome and fulfilling...
With this application, we have tried to explore some different ideas to keep our users engaged with our platform, We tried visualising on various user scenarios to understand the requirements of the customers. Going through teh research, taking surveys, interviewing users we felt directing users’ attention would be one of our main focus, However, as we proceeded step by step through our project, we figured out that things are a bit more complicated than that and faced several challenges in the process. Fortunately, working closely with thr best team brought our the best solutions to each challenge. This project allowed us to bruh up and upgrade our designing skills, It was a great experience working on multiple projects at a time and a self-project amidst the real one. Since we three are currently working in different scenarios, with out design sensibility, we learnt how to collaborate to bring the best out of our knowledge.

Thank yoy for taking immense interest in our work...
